- About:
A Markov process, named after the Russian mathematician Andrey Markov, is a mathematical model for the random evolution of a memoryless system, that is, one for which the likelihood of a given future state, at any given moment, depends only on its present state, and not on any past states.
In a common description, a stochastic process with the Markov property, or memorylessness, is one for which conditional on the present state of the system, its future and past are independent.
The band name was confirmed to be an actual representation of the individual band members ideology and the music itself. Each member has had a past, but it is now forgotten. Nothing from the bands history dictates their future. And their future is independent of its past. Yet this is only applicable to horrible experiences. For the sake of this bio some past will be revealed. TMP is always forward moving, never backwards, this goes for their personal lives as well as the composition and the progression of the band.
The Markov Process was formed by Pamela Kearney(Rhythm guitar/lead) and Daniel Kearney(Drums), in 2000, at ages 11(Pam) and 10(Dan). Pam and Danny are brother and sister and have continued to grow musically over the years. Half brother Mark Patrick Carroll(Lead Guitar, ) started composing with his siblings in 2001 at age 16.
Between 2001 and 2009 the group faced major setbacks. The band would do their separate things, then get back together, instruments were stolen and pawned without consent, and living situations were unstable.
In the Spring of 2009 TMP came together full force and started auditioning for a bassist and a vocalist. After much deliberation the band decided on recruiting Stephen Reid(Lead Vocals) and Bryan Hilyard(Bass/Backup Vocals).
Steph and Bryan are both musicians who have been composing and working on their own projects since a young age. Both have had equally horrible pasts, and their thought process is the very same as the rest of the band. The chemistry from day one was unfathomable. And now The Markov Process is complete, and each member writes their own parts and are equally enthusiastic with each others work.
The music cannot be explained through characterizations, stereotypes, or labels. True TMP is pure bred metal, but there is no sub-genre that they fit into. Each member has their own influences and they can all be heard in the songs. Chilling riffs are fitted together with brutalizing drums, unforgettable grooves, and breakdowns. Distortion changes to clean in the blink of an eye, and technically fast measures draw you in and then slam you face first into a slow, dark, melodic wall. As heart felt screams, coupled with sweeping harmonized singing coax you into going even further.
The Markov Process is now recording their demo and booking shows in the MD/VA/PA/DE area. The band is consistently doing private shows for a mass of friends and family members on the eastern shore of MD. TMP has had an incredible response on the local scene, and there is no end in sight.
